Cherokee Language on the Rise

A New Generation of Fluent Speakers
During the summer of '08 KPEP held a 10-day Total Physical Response (TPR) class
with community members from Cherokee and the Cherokee Nation, Tahlequah, OK.  
Students were partially immersed in the language.  This activity along with other
language activities is part of the EBCI's language initiative.  The initiative focuses on:  
community based language activities, immersion programming and outreach and
networking with our sister tribes in Oklahoma.
